题   目:Design and Evaluation of a “Real Work” Curriculum

内容简介:
Over the past 25 years, we have developed and implemented a variety of new ideas about university-level teaching and student learning in chemistry. This presentation will focus on two things: (a) how we have created more authentic tasks for our beginning students (“real work curriculum”), and (b) some of the education research results we have gathered that tell us what difference this makes.

Professor Coppola’s expertise is in the area of discipline-centered teaching and learning. At the University of Michigan, he was the first person within a regular disciplinary (chemistry) department to earn tenure and promotion for an interdisciplinary professorial position that involved scholarly work in education. His publications cover a range of topics related to instructional design, educational assessment of student learning, and the promotions of liberal arts skills. He has been recognized for his achievements with nearly every national teaching award in the United States, including the CASE/Carnegie Professor of the Year (2009) and the single international biennial award, Baylor University’s Robert Foster Cherry Award for Great Teaching (2012-14).
